SanTan Honda Report: Odyssey & Fit Earn ALG Residual Value Award

SanTan Honda is proud to report that two of our Chandler, Arizona, Honda models received a Residual Value Award from ALG: the 2012 Odyssey minivan and 2012 Fit sub-compact.
Both models were also recently named “2011 Best Cars for the Money” by U.S. News & World Report.
ALG’s annual Residual Value Awards honor the vehicles in each industry segment that are predicted to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a three-year period.
The Honda Odyssey prevailed in the Best Minivan (MPV) category retaining its top spot from last year. The Fit was the winner, for the fourth consecutive year, in the increasingly competitive Sub-Compact Car category. Since 2001, the Honda brand has earned 24 model awards and six overall brand awards from ALG.
“We are delighted to receive two Residual Value Awards from ALG for the Fit and the Odyssey,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. “From the smallest to the largest, Honda vehicles are designed to provide class-leading quality, feature content and value to our customers.”
ALG is the leading provider of residual value information to the automotive industry, and determines the award winners through careful study of the competition in each segment, historical vehicle performance and industry trends. Vehicle quality, production levels relative to demand, as well as pricing strategies are among the key factors that affect ALG’s residual value forecasts.

SanTan Honda Report: 2012 Honda CR-V Named 10 Best Cars Money Can Buy

The 2012 Honda CR-V isn’t even on sale yet, and already it’s being hailed as one of the 10 best cars money can buy.
The 2012 CR-Z just landed on Kelley Blue Book’s annual Best Resale Value Awards Top 10 list, which recognizes the current and forthcoming vehicles that are projected to retain the best value throughout the initial five-year ownership period. Since depreciation (or loss of value) is typically a car buyer’s primary expense during ownership, these awards are designed to help consumers make more informed car-buying decisions.
While most car buyers today consider sticker price one of the most significant numbers when choosing a new vehicle, the editors at Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com recommend that shoppers consider a number they won’t find on any window sticker: the resale value.
“Depreciation often is the greatest expense incurred by drivers during the first five years of vehicle ownership,” write the editors at kbb.com. “Vehicle shoppers should take several factors into consideration when buying a new car to ensure as much future value as possible. Just because a car is expensive or from a luxury brand does not necessarily mean it will hold its value better than an inexpensive car down the road.”
According to kbb.com, the 2012 CR-V will hold 58% of its resale value at 36 months, and 44% at 60 months – well above its competitors competitors.

Black Friday Car Shopping in Chandler

Most people head on out Black Friday to catch deals on electronics and toys, but Black Friday is also considered the best day of year to buy a car, according to calculations made by automotive website TrueCar.com.
Based on sales data from the last 10 years and current market conditions, TrueCar estimates consumers can save as much as 29% off a new 2011 or 2012 car on Black Friday, with an average discount of 9.5%.
“It’s unusual for consumers to think about car shopping during Black Friday but they can expect some of the biggest discounts of the entire year if they were to buy a car that day,” said Jesse Toprak, VP of Industry Trends and Insights for TrueCar.com. “It’s the end of the month, almost the end of the year, manufacturer incentives are at their peak, and dealers are motivated to move units to reach their objectives. Plus, dealers are typically not busy on Black Friday. It’s the perfect storm for car buying.”
Honda makes TrueCar’s list as having some of the best finance and lease specials for Black Friday. You can find a 2011 Civic Coupe or Sedan for only 0.9% financing or lease a 2011 CR-V for only $219 per month at SanTan Honda in Chandler, Arizona.
If you already made plans to spend Black Friday in a shopping mall instead of a dealership, don’t worry – the first two weeks in December still remain a good time for car deals. You’ll still find big discounts on 2011 models with plenty of choices on color in options. Later in December will be slim pickings, however, as most dealerships have already moved their inventory to make room for the 2012 models.

Honda Civic Natural Gas Wins 2012 Green Car of the Year Award

Looking to buy a fuel-efficient car in Arizona? The Honda Civic Natural Gas at SanTan Honda in Chandler has just won the 2012 Green Car of the Year award at the L.A. Auto Show last week.
The Honda Civic Natural Gas is considered one of the cleanest running internal combustion cars endorsed by the U.S. Environmental Agency, with a fuel economy of 48 mpg in highway driving.
“There is no other vehicle like the Civic Natural Gas on American highways, and this recognition has been a long time coming for Honda,” said Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of the Green Car Journal, which issues the annual Green Car of the Year award. “The new-generation Civic Natural Gas features greater fuel efficiency, a handsome and roomier new design and tailpipe emissions levels untouchable by any other internal combustion production vehicle.”
The Civic Natural Gas beat out four other contenders for Green Car of the Year: the Volkswagen Passat TDI, Ford Focus Electric, Toyota Prius V and Mitsubishi I.
