SanTan Honda Report: Odyssey & Fit Earn ALG Residual Value Award
December 5, 2011 by HondaExperience, under Honda Fit, Honda Odyssey.
SanTan Honda is proud to report that two of our Chandler, Arizona, Honda models received a Residual Value Award from ALG: the 2012 Odyssey minivan and 2012 Fit sub-compact.
Both models were also recently named “2011 Best Cars for the Money” by U.S. News & World Report.
ALG’s annual Residual Value Awards honor the vehicles in each industry segment that are predicted to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a three-year period.
The Honda Odyssey prevailed in the Best Minivan (MPV) category retaining its top spot from last year. The Fit was the winner, for the fourth consecutive year, in the increasingly competitive Sub-Compact Car category. Since 2001, the Honda brand has earned 24 model awards and six overall brand awards from ALG.
“We are delighted to receive two Residual Value Awards from ALG for the Fit and the Odyssey,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. “From the smallest to the largest, Honda vehicles are designed to provide class-leading quality, feature content and value to our customers.”
ALG is the leading provider of residual value information to the automotive industry, and determines the award winners through careful study of the competition in each segment, historical vehicle performance and industry trends. Vehicle quality, production levels relative to demand, as well as pricing strategies are among the key factors that affect ALG’s residual value forecasts.

Five SanTan Honda Models Win “2011 Best Cars for Families” Awards
September 26, 2011 by HondaExperience, under Dealership News, Honda Civic, Honda CR-V, Honda Fit, Honda Odyssey.
For many people, a family car is the car you have to buy, not the car you actually want.
Or so say the auto editors at U.S. News & World Report. That’s usually the case when it comes to buying a family car, but Honda has figured out how to make family cars that ditch the mom-mobile persona yet still retain the qualities that make family life easier.
Four Honda models earned five awards on U.S. News’ “2011 Best Cars for Families” list, proving Honda is still the best at providing family enjoyment. Taking top honors for Honda were:
Honda Fit for Best Subcompact Car for Families and Best Hatchback for Families
“For a small car that doesn’t skimp on cargo space, look no further than the Honda Fit. This affordable hatchback is the Best Subcompact Car for Families and Best Hatchback for Families because it can seat five comfortably and has what reviewers call one of the most innovative storage systems on the market. Its standard Magic Seat has four modes (people, long, tall and utility) and lets you haul a bike, surf board or store up to 57.3 cubic feet of cargo for those occasional trips to IKEA.”
Honda Civic for Best Compact Car for Families
“The Honda Civic made its American debut in 1973, and since then, it’s become an icon. Most consumers have heard of or seen this affordable small car. The Civic earns its popularity from its top safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and above-average predicted reliability ratings from J.D. Power and Associates.”
Honda CR-V for Best Affordable Compact SUV for Families
“The Honda CR-V is dependable and popular, just like the Honda Civic, but unlike the Civic, it has all sorts of doodads that simplify parenthood. Inside, you’ll find an under-seat storage bin, a retractable center tray table for snack time, eight cup holders and door pockets for tucking away wet wipes for when Junior spills his apple juice. The only thing the CR-V doesn’t have is a rear-seat DVD entertainment system. Honda left that to the Honda Pilot.”
Honda Odyssey for Best Minivan for Families
“We all know the stereotypes associated with minivans, but parents have been investing in the Honda Odyssey for more than a decade, so it must have a lot going for it. The Odyssey boasts fuel economy ratings topped by few midsize SUVs, an IIHS Top Safety Pick award, seats for eight people and an impressive 38.4 cubic feet behind its rear seats. The Odyssey does all this while keeping passengers entertained with an optional split-screen rear-seat DVD entertainment system.”

2012 Honda Odyssey at SanTan Honda Boasts Best-in-Class MPG, Safety Ratings & More
September 12, 2011 by HondaExperience, under Honda Odyssey.
As if you didn’t have enough reasons to love the Honda Odyssey, the 2012 model year brings even more minivan awesomeness for those who believe that fashion and function can happily co-exist.
The 2012 Honda Odyssey, which in 2011 received its first complete redesign since 2005, continues to offer the fresh, modern styling that set the 2011 Odyssey model apart from competitors. Perhaps the most important distinguishing trait of the 2012 Odyssey, however, is that it achieves the highest EPA highway fuel economy rating of any other eight-passenger minivan on the market. At 28 MPG, the Odyssey Touring is a smart choice for families on a budget.
Another important factor that distinguishes the 2012 Odyssey from competitors is that all Odyssey models received the best possible safety ratings from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which gave the 2012 Odyssey a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which gave the Odyssey a “Top Safety Pick” – an achievement that no other currently-tested minivan can match.
If class-leading fuel economy and safety ratings aren’t enough to sell you, the 2012 Odyssey is packed with features designed to make your life easier, including:
Hands-free Bluetooth
Satellite navigation with voice recognition
Multi-angle rearview camera
Power sliding doors and tailgate
Blind Spot Information System
Ultra-wide 16.2-inch flip-down LCD screen
Plus, a 3.5-liter i-VTECT engine that produces 248 horsepower (the most ever for Odyssey) and a 12-speaker, 650-Watt sound system make Honda Odyssey perfect for long road trips with the family.

2011 Honda Odyssey Wins “Ultimate Minivan Shootout”
July 18, 2011 by HondaExperience, under Honda Odyssey.
Choosing a minivan is one of the most important decisions you can make. After all, it’s carrying the most precious cargo– your family. Helping you make that decision are the experts at Cars.com, USA Today and “MotorWeek,” who put six new minivan models to the test in a head-to-head “Ultimate Minivan Shootout.”
2011 Ultimate Minivan Shootout
The Ultimate Minivan Shootout tested the following minivans (in alphabetical order):
• 2011 Chrysler Town & Country
• 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan
• 2011 Honda Odyssey
• 2011 Nissan Quest
• 2011 Toyota Sienna
• 2011 Volkswagen Routan
After three days of tests – which included driving 175 miles in one day; completing a one-hour driving course; and having a family test each minivan for one to compare features, cargo space, acceleration, braking, handling, and more – the 2011 Honda Odyssey came out on top with a healthy 30-point advantage (on a 1,000-point scale).
Honda Odyssey Minivan Shootout Results
The 2011 Odyssey smoked the competition in nearly every category. Comments from the judges included:
• “The Odyssey has the most updated and modern exterior styling without being too strong or offensive.”
• “It doesn’t look like such a mommy car.”
• “I love the smooth, powerful, nearly car-like ride.”
• “Only two of the vans’ stereos impressed me, and the Odyssey did the most impressing.”
• “The outboard seats in the second row are the comfiest seats in the Shootout, and the expandable second row seats three car seats.”
•“By far the best handling of the bunch!”
The Odyssey’s Ultimate Minivan Shootout win is fresh off the heels of its win as the “Gold Standard of Minivans” by kbb.com.
